I studied the artist Lygia Clark who was interested in how art can help people help people emotionally. My Art History essay was on her and Allan Kaprow. Kaprow was an artist that believed in ‘Art as Life’ , searching for juxtaposition in art and life, and seeking to combine the two.

it was in fact my studying of him that I found the other Brazilian’s work, Clark’s. Clark’s work was in fact what I was most inspired by as she created ‘tools for interaction’ between people.

i also started a blog in order for people to add comments about what they thought happiness was. noone commented! a face book page probably would have been better

I also attempted to try and find what I could about design and happiness at this point. These are two videos from TED. The Don Norman one is about what makes a good design and in the Stefan Sagmeister video he looks at different attempts made by people to make people happy through design. An interesting watch but at this point of my study I should have been starting to actually explore one of the ideas I had so far instead of doing more research!

Obviously you won’t be able to read through all of these articles like I did (too time consuming ) but these are things I had been researching to give myself a better understanding of what happiness was in order to design something that could make people happy.
